With the first release of "Recon" being extremely successful, the America's Army game released this next version which became the initial start of the "Operations" series; named America's Army: Operations.
AA:O became the common nomenclature used to refer to the game within its growing online community. This release contained a dedicated server executable for other's to host America's Army Servers, as well as adding the Official Server classification for Leased Official and U.S. Army Official game servers
